Album Cover: Queso by Valeria

Using the Spanish word to altercate the meaning for the slang money, reggaeton hiphop artist Valeria shares her love and financial venture into a rhythmic iconic party single! She tasked me with creating her hit album cover along with some other performance photos. Listen to Queso now on Spotify.

Creation

  1. Scheduled a day shoot, using downtown Bryan as a local backdrop. We used white walls and blinded panes as easily cuttable backdrops

  2. Found objects and products from either our walk around or in previous shoots that I’d done, selection was using descriptive words from her single or just from the genre in general

  3. Found space to color grade and photoshop what was necessary. Composited images together to create a collage for the final product

Selection

With all the possibilities of what this could be laid out, I offered three variations - all of which had even more openings for her to derive input and criticism.

Final

In the end, her final input were some moderate changes combining a lot of the ideas in the first two covers. We derived that a darker contrast would help the eyes ease its way through every color making the yellow and green pop more. This was the final cover!
